After shocking videos released by the Center for Medical Progress showed Planned Parenthood selling aborted babies and the body parts of aborted babies, now a new report shows the University of Wisconsin is caught up in the controversy. The university purchased body parts from babies killed in abortions at Planned Parenthood.
The videos, in part, showed Planned Parenthood abortion business officials discussing their negotiations with a businesses called Advanced Bioscience Resources that purchases aborted babies’ body parts for experimentation. Universities then purchase the body parts of aborted babies from Stem Express to use in research. Those relationships are now the subject of a Congressional investigation as to whether Planned Parenthood or the biotech firms are violating federal law.
Now a new investigation reveals a top researcher at the University of Wisconsin – Madison has repeatedly obtained aborted baby body parts from Stem Express that were sold to it by Planned Parenthood after it killed those babies in abortions. As Media Trackers reports:
A handful of academic publications reveal that Dr. Shannon C. Kenney of UW’s McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research has used human fetal livers and thymus tissue from Advanced Bioscience Resources (ABR) for some of her latest research and experiments.
Dr. Shannon Kenney and a team made up of mostly UW researchers published a report in 2012 outlining the results of multiple experiments in which human liver and thymus tissue obtained from fetuses between 17 weeks and 20 weeks old were implanted into mice. The human fetal tissue came from ABR in California, the report notes:
“Human fetal thymus and liver tissue of gestational ages 17 weeks to 20 weeks were obtained from Advanced Bioscience Resource…. The recipient mice…[were] implanted with fetal thymus and liver fragments under the recipient kidney capsule after irradiation.”
The report was titled “An EBV Mutant with Enhanced BZLF1 Expression Causes Lymphomas with Abortive Lytic EBV Infection in Humanized Mouse Model,” and was published in the Journal of Virology.
The new report confirms that the University of Wisconsin, like other research outlets, using the body parts of aborted babies, is injecting human tissue from those aborted babies into mice for research purposes.
From MediaTrackers:
Another experiment Kenney and her team conducted for that paper involved injecting newborn mice with cells derived from human fetal liver tissue, a process that did not involve implanting fragments of tissue via surgery.
A 2013 study that Kenney and a team produced did not credit ABR with supplying human fetal tissue, but did explain that the tissue used came from unspecified “cadaverous sources.” Cells and fragments obtained from fetal thymus and liver tissues were transplanted or injected into mice to allow researchers to observe how certain stem cells create a type of graft-versus-host disease.
As for the human fetal tissue: “Human fetal thymus and autologous liver tissues of 14 to 20 weeks of gestational age were obtained from cadaverous sources and processed and stored in X-vivo 15 serum-free culture medium (Lonza Biosciences, Allendale, New Jersey). Thymus and liver tissues were cut into fragments (each approximately 1 mm), and 1 fragment each of thymus and of liver tissue were surgically implanted next to each other under the capsule of the left kidney. Immediately after this surgery, the mice were given an intravenous (ocular) injection of purified human CD34 HSCs…that were obtained from the same fetal liver tissue used for surgical engraftment.”
In Wisconsin, Reps. Andre Jacque and Joel Kleefisch have introduced legislation that would ban the sale of fetal body parts in the state and not allow federal funding to go toward Planned Parenthood. However, the University of Wisconsin opposes the bill because officials say it will shut down research that brings in big dollars.
The expose’ of the University of Wisconsin using body part from aborted babies in research follows on the heels of reports showing another publicly-funded university, Colorado State University, using them.
