Letter to the Editor
Headline news…”UNRULY MOB CHASES AND TRAPS SENATOR
GROTHMAN”, or was it? Yesterday SenatorGrothman went to work, unlike 14
AWOL Democrat Senators. As he approached the Capital he was mobbed, chased and
verbally assaulted by union protesters. They screamed “SHAME, SHAME, SHAME,
YOU SUCK, YOU SUCK, F----- YOU” and other derogatory, expletive appalling
remarks. They trapped him against a glass door for a number of minutes, forcing Senator
Grothman to bang on the door for help and calling for assistance on his phone.
Democratic Representative Brett Hulsey tried coming to Senator Grothman’s aid, but the
protesters had little respect for him either. The Fire Department arrived and escorted
Senator Grothman out of the mob. Capital Police were nowhere to be seen. It was all
captured on video and posted on YouTube.
This incident is very disturbing and depictive of union thug tactics. Had a tea party
individual or group confronted Senator Grothman in this manner, it would be plastered on
every front page and headlined across media outlets from MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC,
CNN and others. There would be a diatribe of unending harsh criticism against the entire
tea party movement. In contrast, AP minimized the event, did not report all the facts,
stated “dozens of protesters” when clearly hundreds mobbed the Senator. There were no
headlines in Sheboygan Press despite that Senator Grothman represents Sheboygan
County citizens. The lack of publication or minimized content clearly shows media bias.
Unfortunately much that is seen in newsprint and broadcast is hard-leaning left,
pro-union reporting. The public is being misinformed (or not informed at all) and
propagandized. It is time the media begin implementing truthful, fair and unbiased reporting.
