Dear Representative Hutton,

As Governor Evers' "Safer at Home" order continues on, I encourage you to consider steps we should take now to offset some of the damage being done to Wisconsin. People are being hurt badly. People have lost jobs, income, savings and retirement. Some businesses have been or will be put out of business. Dreams are snuffed out. My family has, and will continue to suffer significant loss. Where will the tax revenue come from when this is over? I fear that pressure will build to raise taxes, which will further damage our economy. As usual, while citizens are being hurt, government and government employees are unscathed. They bear non of the burden they impose on us. For government employees, things continue as before. Isn't it time for government to share the pain and help ameliorate the economic damage?

I urge you to present legislation to immediately impose significant across the board cuts to government. Further, every State employee and elected official should get a meaningful cut in pay. These cuts would last as long as the shutdown and would not be made up for later. Will it hurt? Sure, but at least they would have a job and a paycheck, which is more than many of us.

Governor Evers would undoubtedly veto any such legislation, but regardless, we need to make a statement. People need to think beyond the current "crisis" and consider the long term damage to Wisconsin and it's citizens if this continues much longer.

Respectfully, Gerry Buettner Brookfield, WI 53005
