Wickert declares candidacy for 60th Assembly District Race

Cedarburg, Wis. – Gary Wickert announced his candidacy Monday for the 60th Assembly District special election on the Republican ticket.

Wickert is in his fifth term as Town of Cedarburg Supervisor for District 3. He has been a lawyer with 27 years of experience in insurance subrogation. Gary lives in Cedarburg with his wife, Lisa, and sons Lee and Matt.

“There is a political revolution underway in Wisconsin,” Wickert said. “Our residents have stormed the Capitol and are in the process of taking it back from liberal politicians, and obese government bureaucracy. I want to be part of that revolution and help Governor Walker reach and exceed his goal of creating 250,000 new jobs in our state.

"Wisconsin has a once-in-a-generation opportunity. I want to work with our new governor in creating a pro-business environment in Wisconsin by cutting spending, taxes and regulatory red tape."

The 60th Assembly District currently consists of the Town and City of Cedarburg, Town and Village of Grafton, Town and City of Port Washington, the Village of Saukville and parts of the Towns of Saukville and Trenton (Washington County) and the second ward of Mequon.

"My family is grown and I have established a successful business,” Wickert said. “I have 10 years of local government experience and I want to contribute to making a brighter future for Wisconsin.

“This campaign is about serving the people of the 60th Assembly District not starting another career in government."

A special election will soon be called for the 60th Assembly District seat by Governor Walker to fill the vacancy created when former Rep. Mark Gottlieb joined Walker's Cabinet as Transportation Secretary.

John Orth of Grafton will serve as Wickert's campaign treasurer.
